If the basket has broken, you can replace it.
There are two different fastening systems for Swix's baskets: TBS which is screwed on by hand and an older model which must be glued to the pole.
The TBS system is the easiest to use. Then you can easily change the basket by loosening it by hand. You must have a pole that supports the TBS system to use these spikes.
Here is a video on how to do this.
The alternative is a basket that is attached to the pole with glue. This is typical of older or less expensive pole models. This is replaced as follows:
- Heat the old basket and pull it off.
- Glue the end of the pole tube.
- Heat the glue until it is liquid.
- Push the new pulley on.
On our Sonic system, you can easily change the basket without removing the stud. Here is a nut under the basket, which you can unscrew, remove the broken basket and put on a new one.
On our alpine poles and mountain poles without the sonic system, you have to pull off the basket with pliers and push on a new one.
