It is a long and good explanation for why RaceX is made as it is. RaceX is primarily developed for active athletes who train at high intensity. The fabric is made to be thin, light, extremely elastic, very quick-drying and open in the structure so it binds a thin layer of air. Synthetic hydrophobic materials solve this task.
If we had made the underwear from eternally long so-called filament fibers, the underwear would not be pilling, but at the same time it would feel very synthetic, and it would not absorb sweat in the structure. This would have resulted in moisture being left between the skin and underwear and this would have given a feeling of cold sweats.
RaceX is not made of filaments, but of cut staple fibers that are 6-8 cm long, similar to cotton. There is also a cotton-like feeling on the RaceX underwear. This allows moisture to be absorbed from the body and conducted away from the skin surface. This physical property is the reason why RaceX feels comfortably soft, a bit like cotton, and feels dry and not clammy.
Unfortunately, a side effect is that the soft, thin and light fabric is a bit prone to pilling if it is exposed to friction. This has been the case since the garment originated. The underwear is still preferred by active people due to its use properties, which are not affected by this visual disadvantage.
